I act because I am broken.
I take the emotional trauma, a traumatic event and use it for a fitting scene — a character that is living something similar. And that somehow helps me use and feel the pain — how deep the wound is — which in turn, turns me into an observer, watching from the outside what was: The Traumatic Event I went through. The Work Behind the Work
Le Van Kamp Studio is a one-woman operation.
Merete Van Kamp writes, directs, designs, creates, and builds — alone. Every collection, every article, every affirmation on every T-shirt comes from one person who has spent years working across film, television, and stage as a performer, a writer, and a director.
The Studio grew out of that experience: the need for objects and tools that match the seriousness of the work, and a space to share what she has learned along the way. There is no team behind the curtain. Just the work, and the conviction that actors deserve better than what the mainstream offers them.
The Studio is based in Paris, France. Everything is designed with intention. Nothing is made by accident.
